Gautama Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, was the founder of Buddhism. He was born into a royal family in Lumbini, Nepal, around 563 BCE. According to legend, his mother Maya Devi died shortly after giving birth, and he was raised by his father, King Suddhodana. Siddhartha's life was one of privilege, but he was sheltered from the realities of suffering. When he ventured outside the palace, he was confronted with the sight of old age, sickness, and death. These experiences caused him to question his existence and seek a way to end suffering....
